Peter Stokhof is Deputy Director of Internal Audit at the Paris-based organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), where he has worked since 1997. During his career at OECD, he has promoted the modernisation of the Organisation’s internal control culture, and has contributed to the reforms of the Financial Regulations in 2003 and 2008. Peter is experienced in managing relations with the Audit Committee and coordinating work programmes with the Organisation’s External Auditors. He has contributed to the successful conclusion of the OECD Internal Audit function’s External Quality Assessments in accordance with the standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), and to the function’s long-term strategy based on the IIA Research Foundation’s Capability Model for the Public Sector.
Prior to joining the OECD, Peter’s extensive experience in auditing and financial management in the private sector in KPMG and in industry, in France, Europe and Africa, has contributed to his capacity to conduct a wide variety of assurance and advisory assignments, providing independent advice on governance, risk management and internal control processes.
Peter holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of Glasgow, UK, and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. He holds the professional qualification of the IIA - Certified Internal Auditor - as well as the IIA Certification in Control Self-Assessment. Peter is also a recognised Instructor for the Institute, and a member of the IIA Public Sector Guidance Committee.
